PHOTO GUIDELINES & TIPS

The best option is to take a brand-new photo of the pet. However, we know that sometimes a new photo is not possible if it is a gift or a memorial portrait after a pet has passed. Either way, follow these guidelines:

  • Remove the collar, leash, harness, etc. unless you want it in the portrait (If you are taking a new photo)
  • The pet should be looking straight forward with their entire face, ears, etc in the frame, preferably with nothing in their mouth, and no people with them / holding them. *IF taking a new photo, a trick is to hold a treat up right above the camera and have them sit looking at the treat while you take the photo.
  • Make sure large enough and high as possible resolution (the original photo taken on a phone is usually best)
  • no blurring, and preferably good lighting with no harsh shadows.
  • Send the original photo - NOT a screenshot of a photo. If you are taking a photo from another person’s social media, save the actual image out from the social media page and send that.
  • It is ok to send multiple photos if you are unsure which will be best to use! I can help choose.
